Financial frauds
There has been a significant increase in the number of financial frauds in Croatia, and the victims are not only legal entities, but also natural persons that become a target more and more frequently.
Fraud is a deliberate deception practiced by one or more individuals in order to cause damage to a subject with the aim of obtaining personal benefit. What is important to emphasize is that every business entity can be affected by fraud, regardless of the size of the business, type of activity or the country where business is done.
Fraud especially affects small companies that do not invest money into fraud prevention measures, but big companies with high profits are affected as well. In the period of global economic crisis, companies tend to misstate their financial statements, while employees are more prone to frauds. Financial pressure can force even a loyal employee to commit fraud.
